A sightseeing tram has been going along the old streets of Lviv for more than a month. It began its operation on the 14th of July and since then more than 1,000 of Lviv dwellers as well as city guests have performed a sightseeing route around the most important historic sites. Only last weekend 301 passengers took advantage of having a ride in this very special tram.
A quarter of the most important Ukrainian monuments of architecture are situated in Lviv region. There are 2313 remarkable examples of architecture in Lviv itself. The central part of Lviv is announced to be a historical and architecture sanctuary and is on the list of UNESCO world's cultural heritage. A Lviv tram is one of the old and legendary ways to move around the city. That's why Lviv brewers have offered a new way of family recreation which helps to find out more about the ancient city and its legends.
The tours will be performed till October. Each Saturday and Sunday the tram will be performing its historical route through the streets of Lviv.
The tour starts at 10.00 and 12.00 at the railway station. The route of the tour is the following: the railway station — Gorodotska street —- Danilo Galytsky square — Pidvalna street — Mytna square — Lychakivska street — Mechnikova street — Vahnyanina street — Mechnikova street — Lychakivska street — Mytna square — Pidvalna street — Russka street — Rynok square — Doroshenko street — Stepan Bandera street — the railway station. The tour follows tram routes # 6, 7, and 9.
35 persons can enjoy the free excursion at a time. 35 is the number of seats in a tram. During the tour the tram makes a stop at Rynok square. Those who wish may stay in the center of the city and enjoy the legendary Lvivske beer.
The tour visitors will have a chance to listen to interesting stories about the main historical events in Lviv dating back to very ancient times: St. Yuriy Church (the history of construction), St. Anna Church, a story about the Lviv Brewery and the museum of brewery, a story about the crimes of the soviet government in Lviv, interesting stories and facts about entertainment and educational traditions of Lviv, information on famous buildings and famous people of Lviv, various legends born in the streets of this ancient city.
The tour lasts two hours.
